Our Children's Ministry

Union Kids seeks to come alongside parents to help in raising children to know Jesus, declare Jesus, and become little disciples of Jesus. We seek to provide a clean, safe, and fun environment where parents can be confident that their children are being taught gospel truths, as well as to provide resources for parents to continue that teaching throughout the week.

MINISTRY VALUES

The Good News of Jesus

Sometimes kids’ ministry can be a little more like childcare, but not here. Through playtime, crafts, singing, and Bible stories, we want kids to hear the good news of Jesus Christ so they’d learn to know there is no one and nothing better than Him.

A Clean & Safe Environment

Children’s safety is of utmost importance to us so we make sure our leaders are qualified, our classrooms are clean, orderly, and safe, and our children are carefully watched over as they enjoy their time with us.

Age-Appropriate Teaching

We want children to learn about Jesus just like their parents are, but not in the same way! All our Bible lessons and activities are designed to be engaging, encouraging, and educational for your child’s age group.

A Lot of Laughter & Fun

God did not make a boring world and Jesus was not a boring guy so we work to help children experience the goodness of God-given fun as they learn about how good He is.

Partnering With Parents

We don’t want to supplant the parent's role in raising their kids to know Jesus, but we definitely want to supplement it by encouraging and equipping parents to raise their kids to know and love Jesus.

Ministry Leadership:

Larissa Hewitt | Union Kids Director

Hello! My name is Larissa Hewitt, and I am the director of Union Kids. I have been a part of Union Church since 2016, and have been tremendously blessed to see The Lord work over the last five years. I moved to San Clemente in 2018, and live here now with my husband, Matt (who you may know if you have a Junior Higher).

My love for children led me to receive a BS in Elementary Education from Liberty University, as well as to work full time as a preschool teacher, but my true passion lies in teaching children The Gospel. It has been so sweet to be a part of a ministry where we are seeking to do just that! You can find me almost any Sunday at our Kids check-in table, aside from the few months I will be out on maternity leave, as I look forward to welcoming my first little one of my own in August!

Katelynn Baird | Assistant Director

Hi friends! My name is Katelynn and I am the Assistant Director of Union Kids. I was born and raised in Orange County and the Lord brought me to Union Church in 2018. I cannot overstate how humbling it has been to be a firsthand witness of Jesus growing his people in our church family. Shortly after coming to Union, I got involved serving in kids ministry, and the rest has become history!

I have always enjoyed working with children, but the Lord has continued to grow in my heart an awe for the way that he loves children. Jesus said to let the little children come to him. I love how much we can learn from the perspective of younger ones, and teaching them about the grace of the Lord Jesus each week is such a privilege to me. Larissa and I are so grateful to be a part of your children’s discipleship. Please feel free to come and say hi to us any Sunday in the Union Kids area!
