Our Meetings

Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm.
In our gatherings we love to have fun together and focus our eyes together on Christ through singing, praying, digging deeply into the Scriptures, thoughtfully discussing how to apply God’s Word to our lives with leaders and students.

Our Ministry

UCHSM exists to accomplish three goals:

To help high school students to KNOW Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul once said, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8). We agree and want to make the good news of Jesus Christ central to everything we say and do so students would come to know the grace and goodness of Jesus Christ. We want to help students taste and see that there is nothing better than personally knowing the Risen King, Jesus Christ, and being known by him.

To help high school students to DECLARE Jesus Christ.
Not only do we want our students to know Jesus, but we want to help them make Jesus known by sharing the good news of salvation to their non-Christian friends and family so they can be saved from death into life! For us, high school students are not hassles to be endured, but heralds to be equipped.

To help high school students MAKE DISCIPLES of Jesus Christ.
Jesus has given the Church one mission, to make disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20), and it doesn’t have an minimum age requirement. Christian high school students are called to the work of discipling others! Therefore, we disciple our high school students not to help them follow Jesus, but so they’d be able to help others follow Jesus too.

Our Team

UCHSM is led by a group of men and women* dedicated to helping students know, declare, and disciple (see above for brief explanation). Helping people follow Jesus is a team sport and here is our team.

High School Co-Director
Dana was born and raised in San Clemente. The grace of Jesus Christ transformed his life in high school where he there sensed a deep desire to help others know Jesus and make him known. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry (2010) from Biola University and a Masters of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology (2016). Currently, he works as a high school Bible and theology teacher at Capistrano Valley Christian School and an Adjunct Professor at Biola University. He lives in San Clemente with his beautiful wife, Chawna, and their three daughters: Daisy, Penny, and Lottie.

High School Co-Director
By God's grace, after playing baseball professionally for parts of four seasons, my wife (Kara) and I began full-time ministry. I currently serve with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and oversee the ministry for all South Orange County high schools and am working to obtain a double Master's Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies and Apologetics. I am eager to reach the lost with the gospel and make disciples of Jesus alongside my Union Church family.

High School Girls Leader
I lived in Texas before moving to San Clemente with my husband, Will. I taught elementary school for five years and am still working in education. I love to relax and hang out at the beach with friends, and trying new places to eat! I’m so excited to serve in the high school ministry to foster relationships, share from my own experiences, and above all point students to Christ!

High School Girls Leader
I was born in a military family, and lived in seven states before settling in Texas for high school and college. I grew up in a Christian home and learned about Jesus and what he did to save me at a young age, but it was during high school and college that I genuinely and personally trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and that changed everything. Having been so transformed by Jesus through the ministry of others in high school, I am passionate to offer high school girls the same opportunity today.

High School Guys Leader
I am from the beautiful cotton fields of Lubbock, Texas.  I have been stationed for the past five months at Camp Pendleton, serving as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. I especially sense God's presence and glory when I am out in his beautiful creation. I look forward to growing in both knowledge and passion for Christ with everyone, students and leaders alike, who joins us at Union Church HSM!

High School Girls Leader
I have been born and raised in California. I became a Christian at 28, after my first son was born. My husband Joel and I have been married for over 31 years and we have raised 3 children together. Opening our home and inviting students over was a top priority when our kids were growing up. I love to cook, decorate, read, and be outdoors to soak in God's creation.

High School Girls Leader
I was born and raised in Orange County and I was lucky enough to get a job as a high school history teacher and cheer coach at University High School. I enjoy cooking, going to the beach with friends, and traveling! I’m stoked to serve at Union Church in the HSM because I want to help high school students to build their relationship with Jesus Christ.

High School Guys Leader
Growing up here in Orange County, sports were a big part of my life. I went on to play football and volleyball in college at SDSU. Currently I am an officiate for High School football and basketball. I have also been married for over 31 years and have raised 3 children. I came to know the Lord a bit later in life-my early 30s. However I have served in High School ministry for several years and I am passionate about sharing Christ with teenagers.

High School Girls Leader
I am blessed to have lived in coastal Southern California for most of my life and was raised in a loving Christ filled home. After high school I lived abroad for a year as a missionary in Asia and Europe. I love sharing God’s Word with the lost and discipling high schoolers. I am passionate about calligraphy, portrait photography, drone photography, graphic design, thrifting, and all things beach.

High School Girls Leader
I am a writer, reader, and avid coffee-drinker from the sprawling suburbia of Dallas, Texas. After college, I married my high-school sweetheart, and the Marine Corps has moved us from coast to coast. God saved me as a child and blessed me with a Christ-filled home, but it was at Union Church that I finally learned what a local body of Christ should be. I am excited to walk with high schoolers through the years that will shape them into who God created them to be.
* To ensure the safety of our students and the faithfulness of our ministry, every leader in the
HSM is a member of Union Church and has been formally interviewed, processed, and
background-checked before ever being with students.
